stall /stɔːl/ [2018上半年三级综合]

V-T/V-I If a process stalls, or if someone or something stalls it, theprocess stops but may continue at a later time. 使暂停; 暂停

例:

The Social Democratic Party has vowed totry to stall the bill until the current session ends.
