在商务英语中，经常会出现一些较为复杂的副词或介词，如nonetheless（依然）, lest（唯恐，免得），这类词在商务英语正式文体中使用频率较高，学会使用此类词能提高英语表达的精确性，并彰显自身的语言素养。

nevertheless adv. （同上）亦作：never the less

despite prep. 不论，不管，不顾
lest conj. 唯恐，免得，以免
Despite the fact that… 尽管…（后接句子）
1. He failed in the match, but he was nevertheless among the best players of his time.
他在比赛中失败了，但他仍然是他那个时代最好的球员之一。
2. Your father left home for many years, but he loved you nonetheless.
你父亲离家多年，但他仍然爱你。
3. The match went on notwithstanding the weather.
尽管天气不好，比赛仍继续进行。
4. Despite all her effort, she failed the exam.
尽管她尽了全力，考试还是不及格。
5. She insisted on going abroad with her fiancé despite the fact that her father refused to finance her.
尽管她父亲拒绝资助她，她还是坚持要和未婚夫出国
6. Take an umbrella lest it may rain.
你带上伞以免天下雨。
注意：despite 是介词，后面要跟名词，而despite the fact that 相当于一个连词，后面是跟一个完整的句子，作为fact的同位语。
